Mikrofy Mikrolaser ML-2 Series 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 7.2V 1500mAh (10.8Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for the Mikrofy Mikrolaser ML-2 laser level. It fits the ML-2, ML-2H, ML-3, ML-4, and over ten additional Mikrolaser models that share the same battery format and voltage rail. Capacity figure is from product data 1500mAh.

  • ML-2 series compatibility: The ML-2, ML-2H, ML-3, and ML-4 all draw from the same 7.2V Ni-MH pack. Shared connector pinout and BMS handshake mean one battery services the full lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the ML-2’s laser drive circuit and motor pendulum mechanism. The BMS held steady across repeated cold-start draws with no false cutoffs.
  • Laser level storage protocol: Ni-MH cells left sitting at full charge inside the ML-2’s enclosed housing accelerate voltage depression. If the unit is going into storage for more than two weeks, discharge to around 40% before shelving this chemistry holds partial charge far better than it holds full charge over time.

Charger blinking red on a new ML-2 pack after storage

Ni-MH packs that have been sitting can drop below the charger’s acceptance threshold typically under 5V for a 7.2V pack. Most Mikrolaser chargers will flash red and refuse to initiate a full charge cycle when they detect this. The fix is a short conditioning charge: some chargers have a recovery mode; if yours does not, try a different charger that accepts low-voltage packs. Once the cell voltage climbs above 6V, the original charger should recognise the pack and proceed normally.

ML-2 laser line dims or flickers under load mid-use

Flickering laser output on the ML-2 is almost always voltage sag not a laser diode fault. When the pendulum motor and laser diode draw simultaneously, a degraded or cold cell can’t sustain the rail voltage, and the diode dims or cuts briefly. Check the battery contact rails inside the compartment for oxidation; corroded contacts add resistance that amplifies sag. Clean contacts with a pencil eraser, reseat the pack, and confirm the resting voltage reads at least 7.0V before use.
